Don't forget that if you don't tell us something is going wrong, then we'll find it hard to help. 2. Please keep your message subject lines simple. Do you have something to OFFER or is there something you WANT? Say which it is, then what your item is, clock, bike etc then PLEASE add your town or village name at the end of the subject line, even if you want something so badly that you are willing to travel miles to collect it. Other group members want to know where YOU ARE before they give you something for free. Remember, OFFER: ITEM (LOCATION) 4. Please turn up to collect when you say you will or call before the agreed time to re-arrange if you have to change your plans. 5. If you get stuck, please email the moderators at PenrithEdenFreegle-owner@yahoogroups.com 6. If you have a few things to give away or want, please keep it all in one email and just number the items for your own clarity. This reduces the overall number of emails we all have to receive. 7. Make your posts suitable for viewing by anyone of any age. Please don't:- 1. Please do not ask for or offer money for stuff. All items must be completely free. 2. Please do not ask to borrow or swap items. 3. Please do not offer or ask for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms or Drugs, legal or otherwise. 4. Please keep politics, religion, proselytizing, rudeness or personal attacks on other members out of your Freegle messages 5. Please do not give out personal information like your phone number or address on the group list. We ask this out of concern for your personal safety. 6. Please do not send SPAM. "Referral links", "invitations to join" and so on are all viewed as spam on Freegle. Do not pass on your fellow members' email addresses - only use them when Freegling. If you spam Freegle or the group members, you risk being instantly banned. 7. Please wait for a month before asking for the same item again. 8. Please wait a week before offering the same thing again. 9. We ask you not to cross post. If you are a member of more than one group, decide which is the easiest for you to use and adopt that one as your home group. Post on there first. If you don't get any responses after a few days then try again on a neighbouring recycling group. 10. Please do not offer or request animals or pets. Please do not offer or ask for software. You can use the list if you are a charity or other non-profit group. Please be ready to show some identification to prove your connection with the charity etc. If you break an important rule, then you will be given an email warning, and may be removed from the group if you do it again. For serious matters such as spamming you may be removed and banned from the group immediately. RE-SELLING Are you thinking of selling things obtained on the group? Our main objective is to keep things out of landfill. If you're planning to sell items you get on this group then that is fine AS LONG AS YOU ARE HONEST ABOUT IT and mention in your emails and messages that you are planning to sell the items on. If you are discovered breaking this rule then you may be banned. BOUNCING MEMBERS If Yahoo cannot send you emails then you will become a 'Bouncing Member'. This might be because your email does not now exist, or because your mailbox is full. The Yahoo groups software categorises these as "Soft Bouncing" or "Hard Bouncing": http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/members/members-16.html http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/members/members-21.html You can reactivate your account to stop being a bouncing member. Contact the group moderators if you continue to have problems. Once a month all hard bouncing members will be removed from the group. TOO MANY MESSAGES? Is your inbox being swamped with messages? Don't Panic! And please don't leave Freegle because of it. 1. Try setting up a new Folder for Freegle emails, and set up a rule that moves all Freegle messages into there. 2. Try setting your group membership to Daily Digest and get one or two (long) emails a day containing several messages each. To get this "Daily Digest" send an email here: PenrithEdenFreegle-digest@yahoogroups.com If you have a Yahoo ID, sign in at the group home page, then click on the "Edit Membership" link near the top left of the page, just above the thick bar with the group name in it. The edit membership link is very small and usually pale blue, so you might need to hunt for it a bit. The email selector is "Step 2. Message Delivery" on the edit membership page. NEED HELP?
